Former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has stated that he is unafraid of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) investigation into his tenure, dismissing allegations of misappropriating N1.3 trillion as politically motivated.
Speaking at his Asaba residence during a visit from Delta North leaders led by Deputy Governor Monday Onyeme, Okowa emphasized his willingness to cooperate with the anti-graft agency and defend his stewardship. He accused his detractors of orchestrating a media trial due to his support for the current Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori.
Okowa declared he has "nothing to hide or fear" and expressed confidence in his record as governor. The visiting group passed a vote of confidence in his leadership, praising his administration's achievements.
The gathering included notable figures such as former Deputy Governor Benjamin Elue, House of Assembly members, and former commissioners. However, the serving senator representing Delta North, Ned Nwoko, was notably absent.
This visit follows Okowa’s release from EFCC custody, where he was detained two weeks ago over allegations of financial mismanagement during his tenure. Since his release, the former governor has received widespread solidarity visits from groups and leaders across the state.
